Kitab Kehidupan (KKH) adalah terjemahan Alkitab yang bersifat idiomatis, mudah dipahami, namun tetap seakurat mungkin dengan teks-teks kuno yang ditulis dalam bahasa aslinya. Sasaran utama terjemahan ini adalah generasi muda yang berusia antara 20 sampai 40 tahun, mereka yang tidak bergereja, dan juga untuk masyarakat, sehingga terjemahan ini sesuai penggunaan pribadi maupun sebagai alat penginjilan. Ciri-ciri utama KKH adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Versi Alkitab yang berisikan terjemahan naskah-naskah kuno yang akurat dan idiomatis;
2. Membantu pembaca untuk memahami alur cerita di dalam teks-teks naratif, dan pengembangan pemikiran secara runut dalam teks-teks argumentatif;
3. Memasukkan informasi tersirat sesuai kebutuhan untuk membantu pembaca memahami teks dengan benar.
4. Menghindari konotasi yang tidak diinginkan;
5. Ada beberapa ayat yang sulit dan tafsirannya tidak pasti. Untuk membantu pembaca mengerti ayat-ayat itu, KKH memasukkan tafsiran-tafsiran yang dianggap penting di dalam catatan kaki.
Project Brief
Kitab Kehidupan (KKH) is an idiomatic, easily comprehensible and accurate translation of the Bible from the ancient texts in the original languages. It is primarily geared towards the younger generation (20-40 y.o.) and the unchurched but is also suitable to a more general public. It should be particularly well suited for evangelisation and personal devotions. The main features of KKH can be summarized as follows:
1. its goal is to produce an accurate and idiomatic translation of the source text;
2. it helps the reader to follow the "thread of the discourse" in narrative and argumentative texts;
3. as far as possible, it makes the implicit information directly relevant to the correct understanding of the text explicit in the text;
4. it avoids unwanted connotations;
5. some verses remain difficult and their interpretation uncertain. In these cases, KKH familiarizes its readers with the most important interpretations in the footnotes.
Footnotes provide alternative translations, variant readings and other kinds of helpful information, like literal translations when the text diverges considerably from the letter of the original, Old Testament quotations, cultural and historical facts that may be obscure to the target readers and even a few theological aids. There are short intros (about 250 words) in tabular form for every book detailing author, place and date of composition, addressees and goal of the book. Maps are also included.
