Jonah is a satirical book. Jonah first refuses God’s calling, then repents in the fish’s stomach, and later preaches a slapdash sermon with only a few words to the evil Assyrians in Nineveh. As people respond in repentance, Jonah whines about God’s grace for Israel’s inimical enemy. Reading Jonah’s story will confront us with this provocative question: Do you know that God’s compassion is also meant for non-believers?

The book of Jonah has much to teach us about the lavish mercy of God and the temptation to selfishness in our own hearts. This 4-day study through Jonah’s prophecy will remind you of the extent to which God goes in pursuing rebellious sinners and changing our hearts to honor and serve Him.

The book of Jonah teaches us profound truths about the character of God and his love for all people. His care extends beyond borders, cultures, and circumstances. He is merciful and forgiving despite our disobedience.
