Peter replied, “Turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then your sins will be forgiven, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The believers listened carefully to the apostles’ teaching. They shared their lives with one another, and they ate and prayed together.

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in languages they’d never learned. The Spirit gave them the ability to do this.

Suddenly a sound like a strong wind blowing came from heaven. It filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something that looked like fire in the shape of tongues. The flames moved apart and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in languages they’d never learned. The Spirit gave them the ability to do this.

Every day they met together in the temple courtyard. They ate meals together in their homes with glad and sincere hearts, God. All the people thought well of them. Every day the Lord added to their group more people who were being saved.

He said: “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Holy Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams.

All the believers stayed together and shared everything they had. They sold houses and land and other things they owned so that they could give to anyone who needed anything.

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn red like blood. All this will happen before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
