Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom He had raised from the dead. [Matt 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9] So they gave a supper for Him there. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. Then Mary took a pound of very expensive perfume of pure nard, and she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, the one who was going to betray Him, said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and [the money] given to the poor?” Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor [for he had never cared about them], but because he was a thief; and since he had the money box [serving as treasurer for the twelve disciples], he used to pilfer what was put into it.

In this simple bible plan, we explore four ideas that help us grow as followers of Jesus. We will look at scripture and unpack concepts around being Jesus-centered, discipleship oriented, intimacy called, and missionally present. Each session has a scripture reading, a devotional thought, and a short time of guided prayer. Our hope is that it would help you follow Jesus to the depths of His heart and the ends of the earth.

A life poured out. We see an example of this in Mary who anointed Jesus (John 12:1-8). In these next 5 days, let us do as Mary did and smash the alabaster jar, so we may be overcome by the fragrance of Jesus.
This five day devotional is geared towards helping you to engage with scripture in quiet reflection. We encourage you to set apart intentional time for each session, as well as extended time to journal your experience (if you are able). Feel free to use written meditation or the accompanying audio.
