For the son insults his father, the daughter rebels against her mother, and the daughter-in-law quarrels with her mother-in-law. One’s enemies come from within your own household. But as for me, I will keep watching for YAHWEH to break through. I will wait for the God who will save me, and I know my God will hear my cry. YAHWEH Listen, my enemy. Don’t gloat over me when I fall, for I will get back up even stronger. Whenever I feel darkness around me, YAHWEH himself will be the light that surrounds me.

Micah’s prophetic ministry called attention to the oppression of the poor, the injustice of leaders, and the unfaithful messages of false prophets. The solution to Judah’s sinfulness is simple: “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God” (Micah 6:8). Despite their sinfulness, Micah prophesies a time of peace when God will gather a remnant of His people to be ruled by a Shepherd-King born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2-5).

1600 years ago Christians began calling the last days of Jesus’ life “Holy Week.” This eight-day reading plan will explain what happened on each of Jesus' final days and why those events, while often tragic, are ultimately good news. Each day there will be a short reading from a psalm, one of the Old Testament prophets, and a few verses from the New Testament. There will also be a short devotional to guide you through those passages and see the significance of Jesus' last days on earth.

Immediately in the first chapter of the Bible, we read how God created light. And further on in the Bible, light is often used as a metaphor for God’s domain as opposed to the domain of sin and death. Jesus even calls Himself “the Light of the world”. Light and darkness thus have an important place in the Bible. This reading plan presents a selection of verses about this topic.
