Dauid sang þysne twa and twenteogeþan sealm, þa he witegode be Israela folces freodome, hu hy sceoldon beon alæd of Babilonia þeowdome, and hu hi sceoldon Gode þancian þæra ara þe hi be wege hæfdon hamweardes; and eac be his agenre gehwyrftnesse of his wræcsiðe; and ælc þæra ðe hine singð, he þancað Gode his alysnesse of his earfoðum; and swa dydon þa Apostolas and eall þæt Cristene folc, Cristes æriste; and eac þanciað Cristene men on þyson sealme heora alysnesse of heora scyldum æfter fulluhte.
1Drihten me ræt: ne byð me nanes gōdes wan.
2And he me geset on swyðe good feohland,
and fedde me be wætera staðum,
3and min mod gehwyrfde of unrotnesse on gefean.
He me gelædde ofer þa wegas rihtwisnesse for his naman.
4Þeah ic nu gange on midde þa sceade deaðes,
ne ondræde ic me nan yfel,
for þam þu byst mid me, Drihten.
Þin gyrd and þin stæf me afrefredon
(þæt is, þin þreaung, and eft þin frefrung).
5Þu gegearwodest beforan me swiðe bradne beod
wið þara willan þe me hatedon.
Þu gesmyredest me mid ele min heafod.
Drihten, hu mære þin folc nu is:
ælce dæge hit symblað.
6And folgie me nu þin mildheortnes ealle dagas mines lifes,
þæt ic mæge wunian on þinum huse swiþe lange tiid oð lange ylde.
