Jeremiah 36:5-7
Jeremiah 36:5-7 The Message (MSG)
Then Jeremiah told Baruch, “I’m blacklisted. I can’t go into GOD’s Temple, so you’ll have to go in my place. Go into the Temple and read everything you’ve written at my dictation. Wait for a day of fasting when everyone is there to hear you. And make sure that all the people who come from the Judean villages hear you. “Maybe, just maybe, they’ll start praying and GOD will hear their prayers. Maybe they’ll turn back from their bad lives. This is no light matter. GOD has certainly let them know how angry he is!”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 King James Version (KJV)
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD: therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities. It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
Jeremiah 36:5-7 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted; I cannot go into the house of the LORD. So you go and read from the scroll which you have written at my dictation the words of the LORD to the people in the LORD’S house on a fast day. And also you shall read them to all the people of Judah who come from their cities. Perhaps their supplication will come before the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 New Century Version (NCV)
Then Jeremiah commanded Baruch, “I cannot go to the Temple of the LORD. I must stay here. So I want you to go to the Temple of the LORD on a day when the people are fasting. Read from the scroll to all the people of Judah who come into Jerusalem from their towns. Read the messages from the LORD, which are the words you wrote on the scroll as I spoke them to you. Perhaps they will ask the LORD to help them. Perhaps each one will stop doing wicked things, because the LORD has announced that he is very angry with them.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 American Standard Version (ASV)
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of Jehovah: therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah in the ears of the people in Jehovah’s house upon the fast-day; and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities. It may be they will present their supplication before Jehovah, and will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that Jehovah hath pronounced against this people.
Jeremiah 36:5-7 New International Version (NIV)
Then Jeremiah told Baruch, “I am restricted; I am not allowed to go to the LORD’s temple. So you go to the house of the LORD on a day of fasting and read to the people from the scroll the words of the LORD that you wrote as I dictated. Read them to all the people of Judah who come in from their towns. Perhaps they will bring their petition before the LORD and will each turn from their wicked ways, for the anger and wrath pronounced against this people by the LORD are great.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am confined, I cannot go into the house of the LORD. You go, therefore, and read from the scroll which you have written at my instruction, the words of the LORD, in the hearing of the people in the LORD’s house on the day of fasting. And you shall also read them in the hearing of all Judah who come from their cities. It may be that they will present their supplication before the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evil way. For great is the anger and the fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am [in hiding, virtually] restrained; I cannot go into the house of the LORD. So you go to the LORD’S house on a day of fasting and read from the scroll the words of the LORD to the people which you have written as I dictated. And also you shall read them to all the people of Judah who come from their cities. It may be that their supplication [for mercy] will come before the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 New Living Translation (NLT)
Then Jeremiah said to Baruch, “I am a prisoner here and unable to go to the Temple. So you go to the Temple on the next day of fasting, and read the messages from the LORD that I have had you write on this scroll. Read them so the people who are there from all over Judah will hear them. Perhaps even yet they will turn from their evil ways and ask the LORD’s forgiveness before it is too late. For the LORD has threatened them with his terrible anger.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Then, I instructed Baruch: “I am forbidden to go back into the temple. So during the next day of fasting in the temple, you must go and read aloud from the scroll so that the people will hear everything that YAHWEH has said to me and that I have dictated to you. Make sure all the people of Judah who have come in from their towns hear you clearly. Perhaps they will pray to YAHWEH and turn from their evil ways, for YAHWEH has promised to punish these people with his terrible anger and fury.”
Jeremiah 36:5-7 English Standard Version Revision 2016 (ESV)
And Jeremiah ordered Baruch, saying, “I am banned from going to the house of the LORD, so you are to go, and on a day of fasting in the hearing of all the people in the LORD’s house you shall read the words of the LORD from the scroll that you have written at my dictation. You shall read them also in the hearing of all the men of Judah who come out of their cities. It may be that their plea for mercy will come before the LORD, and that every one will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
