Psalms 127:2
Psalms 127:1-2 The Message (MSG)
If GOD doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If GOD doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?
Psalms 127:2 King James Version (KJV)
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Psalms 127:2 New Century Version (NCV)
It is no use for you to get up early and stay up late, working for a living. The LORD gives sleep to those he loves.
Psalms 127:2 American Standard Version (ASV)
It is vain for you to rise up early, To take rest late, To eat the bread of toil; For so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.
Psalms 127:2 New International Version (NIV)
In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
Psalms 127:2 New King James Version (NKJV)
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
Psalms 127:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
It is vain for you to rise early, To retire late, To eat the bread of anxious labors— For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.
Psalms 127:2 The Passion Translation (TPT)
It really is senseless to work so hard from early morning till late at night, toiling to make a living for fear of not having enough. God can provide for his devoted lovers even while they sleep!
Psalms 127:2 English Standard Version Revision 2016 (ESV)
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.
