Lent Youth Guide | Jesus' Real Talk During His Hardest & Darkest Moments

Think:

It’s wild to think about Judas, right? He was there with Jesus, saw His miracles, heard His teachings, and was even trusted with the money! Yet, he still betrayed Jesus. How did he fall so far? It’s a reminder that we all deal with this pull between our flesh (the part of us that wants instant satisfaction) and the Spirit (the part of us that calls us to something better). It’s like an inner battle where one side is always trying to pull us toward bad choices, and the other side is pushing us toward what’s good.

Think about it: What are the "attachments" in your life that might be dragging you down? Are there things you cling to too tightly, maybe because they make you feel safe or in control? Reflecting on this can help you see where you might be making decisions that don’t align with your values.

Live:

This isn’t about being perfect, it’s about growing. So, what if we stopped holding onto the things that keep us stuck? Let’s reflect on what those attachments are—whether it's comfort, control, or something else—and consider letting go. It's not about changing everything overnight, but about allowing the Spirit to guide us, day by day, helping us make better decisions that align with our heart’s true desires.

Ask yourself:

  • What attachments or habits are keeping me from fully surrendering to God’s work in my life?
  • How can I let go of those things so I can experience more of the Spirit’s freedom?
Pray:
Jesus, help me recognize the places in my life where I’ve been holding onto things that keep me from fully surrendering to You. Amen.
