Lent Youth Guide | Jesus' Real Talk During His Hardest & Darkest Moments

ڕۆژی9 لە 39

Think:

Back then, and nowadays, we’re all about being the one who gets served, right? But Jesus says, no—He’s here to serve, not be served. The disciples got caught up in comparing who’s the greatest, just like we do. They wanted power and recognition to continue Jesus’ work, but that led to pride and arrogance. It’s crazy how the very things we think will help us—power, success, and attention—can actually become a barrier to living the life God calls us to. Think about it: the pride that creeps in can mess with our connection to God. The devil fell because of pride, and it can be our downfall too if we don’t check it.

Live:

Take a moment and reflect: when you’re on your faith walk, are you focused on serving or on getting noticed? It’s easy to use our spiritual journeys as a way to make ourselves look good to others. Ask yourself: where am I trying to gain recognition or power in the name of faith? How can I humble myself to truly serve, just like Jesus? Start small—serve someone without expecting anything in return. It’ll shift your heart.

Pray:
Jesus, I ask for your grace to see where my pride and obsession with self is getting in the way of true life in You. Give me deep insight and conviction, and help me live out humility in a way that honours You. Amen.
