Day 1: The Power of Your Testimony

Introduction:

As believers, we know that “...by His [Jesus’] stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV), but many believers don’t truly know Jesus as their Healer. Over the next four days, I want to dive deeper into this subject in this devotional series, but today, I want to start by sharing my own testimony to encourage you.

I wanted to share this with you for two reasons: First, I just wanted you to know that Jesus really is a Healer, and my life is proof. Second, I wanted to show you the power of a testimony. Think about the woman with the issue of blood. The Bible says that she had suffered for twelve years with this problem, but when she heard about Jesus, she knew that she could finally get her healing (Mark 5:25-27 NKJV). What did she hear? Perhaps she heard about the blind man whose eyes were opened, the crippled man Jesus healed so he could walk, or the multitude who were fed with only two loaves of bread and some fish. All we know is that she heard someone’s testimony, and it caused faith and hope to flood her heart, so she went out to receive healing for herself.

That is the power of your testimony! When you give your testimony, you are declaring Jesus’ promise over yourself, and you can absolutely encourage yourself and receive healing that way, but you can also open someone else’s heart to be filled with hope and faith that Jesus can be their Healer too.

Practical Application:

• Take a moment to think about a testimony of miraculous healing that you have heard before. Let that story be an encouragement to you today.
• Take some time to write out your personal testimony and practice sharing your story with others!
