The Pursuit - 12 Weeksنموونە

Centuries before Jesus walked the earth, King David penned Psalm 22 — a cry of anguish that sounds eerily familiar. The words are so specific, it’s hard to believe they were written a thousand years before the crucifixion. David describes being surrounded by enemies, mocked, and pierced through hands and feet. He even writes, “They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.” (Psalm 22:18)
When Jesus was nailed to the cross, these words came to life. Matthew and John both record Roman soldiers gambling for His clothes and mocking Him with the very taunts Psalm 22 describes. Jesus even began quoting this psalm from the cross, crying out the same desperate words David once wrote.
Why does this matter? Because it shows us that the Bible isn’t just a collection of moral lessons — it’s one unified story, written by dozens of authors but inspired by one divine Author. No human could have orchestrated such detail across centuries.
When we see prophecy fulfilled like this, it strengthens our confidence that the Bible’s promises about the future — including eternal life through Jesus — are just as trustworthy as its promises in the past. The cross wasn’t an accident; it was the fulfillment of God’s plan foretold long ago.
Reflection:
How does seeing Jesus’ crucifixion predicted in Psalm 22 deepen your confidence in the Bible’s reliability?
