The word “family” can mean many different things to different people. Often, when people speak of family, they mean their blood relatives, specifically those with whom they live. When Christians speak of family, we also refer to God’s family, his ekklesia, or “church.” When we enter God’s kingdom, we become family with one another, forging a bond that transcends blood everything. We are all brought together into God’s family.

Many churches and families who partner with Grain of Hope are coming together to experience Grain of Hope: 30 Days of Heartwork! We're spending ourselves constantly... Our time, money and our energy. This 30 day interactive journey through Scripture is going to challenge us to spend ourselves the way God calls us to as believers! Through true stories, honest questions, and daily empathy challenges, we'll grow in compassion and in our knowledge of justice issues. Most importantly, we will become more like our generous God, who spends himself for us! 

Throughout Scripture, knowing God and caring for the poor are interconnected. Compassion: 30 Days of Heartwork is an opportunity - a creative and engaging resource to help you disciple your kids in knowing God better by opening their eyes and their hearts to needs all around them. As you live differently for these 30 days, your family will grow closer to God and to each other.

The devotionals in this plan are not designed to unpack the meaning of passages for you, but to help guide exploring Scripture personally. We will be journeying through the Bible with Jesus by taking 30 days to follow this Scripture reading plan.

Throughout Scripture, knowing God and caring for the vulnerable are interconnected. So often we are discouraged from speaking up for the most vulnerable in our society, the unborn, because we view the issue through the lens of politics, anger, or shame. Reimagining Pro-Life is an opportunity to see and engage with the millions affected by abortion from a new framework, one of love, compassion, and action.
