2 Corinthians 4:8
2 Corinthians 4:7-12 The Message (MSG)
If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us. As it is, there’s not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!
2 Corinthians 4:8 King James Version (KJV)
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair
2 Corinthians 4:8 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing
2 Corinthians 4:8 New Century Version (NCV)
We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living.
2 Corinthians 4:8 American Standard Version (ASV)
we are pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair
2 Corinthians 4:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair
2 Corinthians 4:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair
2 Corinthians 4:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.
2 Corinthians 4:8 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option.
