Faith Hope Love Repeat Mother's Day Devotional by Brandon HeathSample
Day 1 - Faith
I brought you into this world
And I’m sorry it’s a little bit crazy
But I tell you there is so much good
Though the future looks a little bit hazy
But see God, me and Him have a promise
And He’ll give us everything that we need
So have faith, hope, and love
Faith, hope, love, repeat
The song “Faith Hope Love Repeat” was written right after I found out that I was going to be a father. It’s a letter to our new little girl, Palmer. When we were preparing to have a baby, we had a lot of questions running through our minds about what kind of parents we would be, what kind of curveballs life may throw at her, if she will be healthy and happy her whole life… the list goes on. We were, (and still are), facing a lot of unknowns! The lyrics of the song talk about how the world is a “little bit crazy” and the future is a “little bit hazy” but having faith is what helps us get through our days with peace in our hearts, knowing that our own heavenly Father will provide for us. We want to teach Palmer that life is going to continue to be unpredictable and maybe even scary, but having faith in God will provide a foundation of hope and peace.
My hope for my daughter is that she will always remember Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) which says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” It’s both a prayer that I have for Palmer and it’s a prayer that I have for me and my wife, as parents. God will not forsake our little girl, and He will not forsake us. We want to encourage our daughter to go to God in good times and bad, to pray to Him and trust Him, no matter what comes in life.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for the blessing of children. Thank you for promising that you will not forsake us. Teach us to guide our little one so that she has faith in you always.
Amen
Practice:
Write out five areas in your life or the life of your child/children in which you need to have faith and trust in God. Pray for each of those areas for the rest of the weekend and finish by reading and praying the verse Matthew 17:20.
