Why Does a Good God Allow Bad Things?Sample

The Promise Of God
There will be another disaster in the news soon. From world-spreading viruses to hurricanes and earthquakes, such calamities are an inevitability.
Unfortunately, pain and suffering is an inevitability for every human as well. A catastrophe half-a-world away may cause you to pause in prayer for a moment, but if a friend or family member is suffering, the hurt is deeper, more personal, and longer lasting.
And if you’re the one in pain right now, you may feel far from God. But he is not far from you.
The biblical and theological principles we have discussed are approaches to the various kinds of suffering we experience. But the enduring hope and strength to face our trials with courage comes from the God we trust and serve.
He promises that nothing can separate us from his love—not death or life, angels or demons, the present or the future, height or depth or anything else in all creation (Romans 8:38–39). We are never beyond the reach of his grace.
Now, where do you need his help and hope today?
What hurting friend or family member is in need of God’s love expressed through yours?
God is all-loving and all-powerful, even though (and especially when) evil exists. This is the reasoned conclusion of our theological discussion.
And far more importantly, it is the promise of God.
