[2020 Vision Series] Victory in Our BattlesSample
Walk in Faith
Walking in faith is an important step to secure a victory. What do we do when we go to battle? Here is what we do: we walk in faith. When you enter a battle, you don’t know how the situation is going to turn out, but even if you don’t see anything clearly ahead, you must walk in faith, with confidence in God. Trust in His love and favor toward us. As the book of Hebrews says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” So, we need to believe that the victory that we are hoping for will come.
For example, if you want to financially support a group of missionaries, there will be a fight about giving. No matter how much you can give, your faith will be at the center of the battle. What can you do? Just pray, “Lord, we give it to you.” Then, joyfully give what the Lord has put in your heart, and trust that He will do the work.
Don’t be indecisive or unstable in your thinking, “Oh, I don’t know what we are doing. I’m not sure. This is going to really hurt. One hundred and seventy dollars! Do you know how many lattes I’m not going to get to drink for the next two weeks?”
Battle those thoughts by walking in faith. Say, “God, I thank you for giving me and my family the opportunity to be a part of what You’re doing in the world. I walk in faith, God. I trust in what You can do. I know that You can expand what I have. I want to walk in faith. I want to walk in worship. I want to walk in victory.”
After Judah’s army came out, Jehoshaphat’s Levites kept on singing, “Give thanks to the Lord, for His faithful love endures forever,” fully convinced they were going to get the victory. Three numerous armies were coming against Jehoshaphat. He was afraid, with good reasons. But he said, “Lord, I turn to You.” And God said to Jehoshaphat, “Don’t worry. I’m going to fight this battle for you. You need only to stand in your position in Christ. You need to walk in worship. You need to stand firm. You need to trust me. I’m going to take care of it.”
About this Plan
There are going to be battles in your life this year—battles in your health, in your heart, and in your relationships. People you know will have to fight. At work or at school, there are going to be some conflagrations. There will be things that come against us in the coming months, and we will need God’s power and strength to be able to walk through them.
