It Set Up Man for a Savior

READY
“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” — John 3:30
SET
He was destined to be number two, not born to be number one, setup man for a Savior. John the Baptist would blaze a trail, set the pace, and make way for someone else to walk through.
Have you ever known that you would be the one to create, position, and place others?
I know what you are thinking, but this is the story of my life. All too often, God has allowed me to start or build something but never take it to the next level, never be able to go all the way through. I often wondered why until I metaphorically ran into John the Baptist, dripping with prophecy over his head, infused with the Spirit and power of Elijah and filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb to make ready for the Lord a prepared people. Did you see that? He was born to make people ready for the Lord—I want that!
I want to position people, to prepare their hearts, and to help them be ready for a coming King. No more complaining about could have, should have, and might have; I am in good company with Elizabeth’s son.
John is both the great example and the great exception, positioning the One for greatness by becoming Heaven’s greatest usher. Ushering in God’s best to position us for success. Jesus says of John that there is no one born of woman
that is greater than John, but we who believe in Jesus would be greater than he. Setup man for a Savior.
