Holy Spirit
I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I read that bible, I get a bit jealous of Jesus’ disciples. Surely, it was much easier for them because they were with Jesus ALL the time. They ate together; they went everywhere together, and they could ask him about anything. If they weren’t sure about something he said, they could just poke him on the shoulder and ask him to explain it.
However, the crazy thing is, when Jesus was preparing to leave earth, he told his followers that they would be better off without him because he would send them the Holy Spirit in his place. So instead of having to track Jesus down to ask him a question physically, they would have the Holy Spirit living inside them, available at any moment for any reason.
And so, for us, as we follow Jesus, that means we’re never alone. Sometimes life can be challenging, but as followers of Jesus, we can trust that whatever we go through, God is literally with us. Each of us has the Holy Spirit living in us, wanting to speak to us in our thoughts, emotions, and dreams.
Imagine that God wanted to do something in your school or college. Chances are, he wants you to be a part of that! That’s one of the main reasons we have the Holy Spirit, to help us do things that we would NEVER be able to do on our own. One of the ways he does this is by what the bible talks about as the ‘fruit of the Spirit.’ As we wait for the Holy Spirit and listen to him, he changes and shapes and grows us into the kind of people that look more like Jesus.
Honestly, with the Holy Spirit living inside each of us, the possibilities for what God might want to do in and through you are endless!
