Whether it’s your favorite movie, book, or reality show, you know there’s nothing like a good plot twist! Those storytelling surprises can keep us entertained, but they can do a lot more than that too. A good plot twist can make us rethink everything we thought we knew, see things in a brand new light, and get excited about what might happen next. That’s never more true than in the most surprising and significant plot twist in history — the life of Jesus. When Jesus was here on earth, his followers were convinced he would change the world. They were right but also wrong. They pictured Jesus taking power like a king or emperor and ruling the world with justice and love. But then — plot twist. Jesus’ enemies began plotting to have him killed. For both Jesus and his followers, trouble began to follow them. But Scripture shows us, with Jesus, there’s always one more plot twist in the works. Because when we’re in trouble, we’re not alone. God gives us help.
