DAY 3 OF 7

What Lies Ahead?

Have you ever wondered what it means to have the gift of prophecy? Predicting the future or speaking the truth boldly and clearly can be fascinating and intimidating. But as we dive into Romans 12:6-8, we see there is more to this gift than meets the eye. Prophecy is not just about predicting future events; it’s about proclaiming the truth of God’s Word with a deep faith in His plan for our lives.

The gift of prophecy must be used to build up the body of Christ and serve others in love and humility. It is a gift with a caveat: we must use it proportionately to our faith. We must be careful not to overstep our bounds, making predictions that are not in line with God’s will. Instead, we must tie our proclamations to our faith, which means staying grounded in the Word of God and seeking His guidance every step of the way.

As we proclaim the truth of God’s Word, we must be careful not to let our own opinions cloud our message. Our proclamations must be tied to our faith, not our personal biases. This is especially important for those with the gift of prophecy, as their proclamations can sometimes come across as condescending or hurtful to those closest to them.

We must use our gifts to build up the body of Christ, not tear it down. This means being mindful of how our words and actions affect those around us, striving to use our gifts to serve and edify them. As we go about our day, we must reflect on our gifts and how to use them to serve God and others.

Ultimately, we must speak with love and gentleness, even when the message or prophecy will be difficult for others to hear. Humility and grace enable us to truly reflect the heart of Christ to a broken and hurting world. Let us remember to use our gifts for good and to build up the body of Christ, always seeking to serve and edify those around us.
