God's Big World and His Big Love for YouSample
“Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths.” Psalm 36:5-6a NLT
Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on earth. Its top reaches far above the clouds, and no plants or animals live there because it is so cold and hard to breathe.
The Mariana Trench is the deepest part of the ocean. If Mount Everest was dropped into the bottom of the Mariana Trench, its tip would still be over one mile underwater.
Voyager 1 was the first spacecraft to reach the edge of our solar system. To get there, it had to travel at a speed of over 38,000 miles per hour for almost 35 years. Our solar system is that big!
In Psalm 36, God uses huge parts of creation, like mountains, the ocean, and outer space, to describe who he is.
God says that his faithfulness and righteousness stretch even higher than Mount Everest. This means he keeps his promises and always does what is good.
God’s justice reaches as far as the bottom of the Mariana Trench. You can be confident that he always treats people fairly and will fix everything that is wrong in the world.
God’s love for you extends past the edge of our solar system and farther than any telescope could ever see. You can trust that he cares for you more than you can even imagine.
Everything God made points back to him. When you look at the mountains, ocean, or starry night sky, praise him for who he is and for his never-ending, bigger-than-outer-space love for you!
