Abiding in His Word

The third point I consider crucial is abiding in God's Word. Meditation and silence must be rooted in the Word to allow a deeper understanding of God's voice. Just as Elijah recognized God's voice, it's essential to be sensitive to this reality and let God's Word guide our thoughts and meditations.

Abiding in God's Word, as highlighted in John 15:4, means remaining in Jesus and Jesus in you. At that point, your spirit has a voice. Some call it the conscience, or others intuition, but it has a voice. And when you are going to abide in God's Word, this voice will be deeply imbued with the Word.

Proverbs 20:27 says "The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord," highlighting that our spirit, nourished by God's Word, can be illuminated by the Holy Spirit. Our spirit can also, when it abides in God's Word, enlighten us.

As God's Spirit lives in our spirit, we must continually seek to live God's Word and to abide in God's Word, because the Holy Spirit, God's anointing, teaches us. How does it teach us? It will remind us of what Jesus told us, remind us of the Scriptures; verses will come back to us.

So abide in God's Word. God will use your spirit to enlighten you, to illuminate you. But for that, you need to abide in God's Word.

Of course, it's the Word that enlightens us, but understand this verse which says: "The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord." God uses our spirit to speak to us, to reveal things to us so that we can be enlightened about the circumstances we live, that we see.

Let's pray together:

Holy Spirit, thank you because you desire to speak to me, you desire to enlighten me through Your Word. What grace! I want to abide in Your Word, to love it, to cherish it, to practice it! Amen.
