Live Like Jesus

DAY 4 OF 5

God created us as unique beings, and we all have an important part to play in this world. Everyone is born with purpose. If we exclude others based on superficial characteristics we are behaving contrary to this truth. None of us can claim we earned our salvation, so how can we look down on anyone else? Jesus extends his grace to men and women, the rich and the poor, and people of every race and ethnicity.

Jesus wasn’t too good to eat with Zacchaeus, a tax collector. He wasn’t above talking to the woman at the well, despite her reputation. He forgave Peter for denying him in his hour of need. He called on his followers to be neighbors to all. By doing this, he wasn’t affirming their patterns of sin. He treated them the way he did to send a clear message: No one is beneath anyone else. We are called to accept and forgive. We have all sinned, and we are all on an equal footing at the cross.

Jesus welcomed all people, regardless of their background or status, with open arms. Jesus noted that people would recognize his followers by their love for one another. Follow his example by embracing others with love and acceptance. Instead of judging or excluding others, seek to welcome them into your life and community, recognizing the value and dignity of each person as cherished by God. When we love with his love it changes everything!
