God Our RefugeSample

Defence and protection
In moments of uncertainty and fear, we often look for something comfy and familiar to hold onto when, really, we should be reaching for something solid – something unshakable. Psalm 31 reminds us that God is not only our refuge but our rock and fortress – a place of unwavering strength and safety. The Hebrew word for ‘fortress’ in this verse (metzudah) means: a stronghold, fortress or place of defence – typically a high, secure place used for protection in times of danger. Imagine that for a moment. What does your high, secure place used for protection with the Lord look like?
When we’re feeling overwhelmed, we can rest in the truth that our God sees the full picture and is actively working to lead us out of danger. But we must be willing to listen.
To find protection in God is to surrender our need to control, and instead anchor ourselves in His promises. His name is a strong tower; His presence is our peace.
Prayer: Lord, you are my rock and my fortress. Today, when I feel surrounded by uncertainty or fear, remind me that you are my safe place. Lead me for the honour of your name and guide me away from the traps that seek to harm me. I place my trust in you, knowing that your protection is perfect and your love unfailing. Amen.

About this Plan

“The presence of the Lord is the shelter we need when the situation feels overwhelming. It’s where our souls find rest and safety, even when chaos surrounds us. In Him, we discover a peace that surpasses all understanding, a stillness in the storm.” (Take Shelter In The Person Of Jesus – Elisha Jurgensen)
