I'm New! What Do I Do?Sample

Welcome to the Family of God!
You made the best decision of your life when you said “Yes” to following Jesus, giving Him all your heart and all your life. Now that you’ve made the decision to start this journey of following Jesus — what do you do next?
Stay Consistent
“There is no commitment without consistency.”
If someone wants to get healthy or lose weight, one day of dieting or going to the gym won’t help them accomplish their health goals. It’s only through consistency over time that the goal is achieved.
This devotional will help you start a healthy habit of being consistent with God.
Each day, take time to go through the daily lesson, read the Scripture, and pray. (Prayer is simply talking with God, so take time to talk with Him like you would a friend — both speaking and listening.) Be ready to apply what you’re learning to your everyday life.
Also, get into church as often as you can. Find a faith-filled friend to go through this devotional with you so you can ask questions and stay accountable.
Be Aware of Resistance
There will be resistance to your goal of staying consistent in your relationship with God. You have an enemy called the devil. He doesn’t like that you’re following Jesus! He wants you to follow him like you did before you gave God all your heart and all your life. In other words, he wants you back.
The devil will lie and try to tell you that your salvation experience wasn’t real or that you were tricked into making a decision to follow Jesus. Don’t listen to the lies. Tell the devil to run away from you — because you’re following God now.
Never doubt that you are saved, that God loves you, or that church is important.
Keep Going
As you stay consistent with God, your life will change! This is something new — so make sure you don’t just start, but that you stay consistent.
Prayer
“God, help me to be consistent in following You. Thank You for leading me on this journey of life. Amen.”
