I'm New! What Do I Do?

DAY 29 OF 35

You Are Chosen by God

God Has Chosen You

You have made it to the final week of this devotional! Remember, these first five weeks are just the beginning of your lifelong journey in following Christ. This week, you will learn some life-changing principles—principles that first changed the life of a man named Saul.

Saul was a religious leader during the early church who persecuted Christians. He would drag believers from their homes and even consented to the death of the first martyr, Stephen. After encountering Jesus, his life completely changed. His name was changed to Paul, and he went on to write a majority of the New Testament.

All this happened because he decided to follow Jesus. He didn’t do it alone—someone shared these same principles with him, helping him grow into spiritual maturity. As you learn these principles, you too will grow.

Principle 1: God Chose You

This principle isn’t just for Paul—it is for you. God chose you! You may have thought you chose God (which you did), but did you know God chose you first? He loves you, died for you, and chose you to be part of His family.

We all remember the pain of rejection—in the schoolyard, in a relationship, or when passed over for a promotion. Oh, how we longed to be chosen! Now, not only do we experience the joy of saying “yes” to Jesus, but we also rejoice in the resounding “yes” of God to us.

You are very special to God. He specifically chose you to be His child. You are not a reject or an outcast—you are chosen by God!

Prayer

“Thank you, God, for choosing me!”
(In your own words, list the ways you are grateful and how you feel knowing you are chosen by God.)
