I'm New! What Do I Do?Sample

You Can Hear God’s Voice
Truly Listening to God
As you read through the Bible, you will notice Jesus often said, “He who has ears, let him hear.” The people He was speaking to had been listening to Him teach—they heard His words. So why would Jesus make that statement?
Because there is a difference between casually listening to someone and actually hearing and understanding what they are saying.
Principle 4: You Can Hear God’s Voice
We have already learned there are many ways to hear from God: reading the Bible, praying and listening, following the Holy Spirit’s guidance, listening to sermons, and even through a faith-filled friend.
To truly hear God means we understand and act on what we hear. You can know you have really heard God when it is reflected in your life.
Jesus often compared people to fruit trees. He said that if we truly hear from Him, we will produce good fruit—love, joy, peace, repentance, obedience, witnessing, and more. Make sure you’re really listening, understanding, and doing what God says. As you do, you will produce the fruit God desires in your life.
Prayer
“Dear God, in all my listening, let me hear Your voice and be changed by it. May I produce good fruit for You! Amen.”
