Fear NotMuestra

I'm Afraid of Being Abandoned
A relative of mine adopted a child from overseas. He told me that when the little girl was handed over from the foster mom, the mom chose to walk away abruptly without any good-byes. The little girl clung like a terrified animal to her new adoptive mom and for months afterward exhibited major fear behaviors. How could you not? Do you think she still has abandonment nightmares? Do you ever have abandonment nightmares?
Were you ever the kid left behind at a gas station or restaurant? Do you find it hard to trust people because you assume that they will dump you sooner or later? "My acquaintances are completely estranged from me. My kinsmen have gone away; my friends have forgotten me" (Job 19:13,14).
Your baptism is the place to start in regaining your self-confidence. When you were baptized, the omnipotent God of the universe accepted an obligation to act as your Father throughout your life. He washed away your sins through that wonderful water and committed himself to you unconditionally.
He will never lose track of you. He will never stop caring about you. In fact, he’s crazy about you.

What are you afraid of? God has spoken over and over again to fearful people. His angels repeatedly say, "Don’t be afraid." This reading plan contains pairs of devotions. The first devotion in a pair voices a fear that plagues many of us. The second devotion contains God's words of reassurance and comfort.
