Marriage comes with great joys and great challenges. One of the reasons for the challenges is because we have lost sight of the Biblical purpose of marriage. We have removed God and defined marriage in terms of happiness. But marriage exists to glorify God by expanding His reach throughout the world. In Deuteronomy 29-32, Moses revisited the covenant with the Israelites at Moab, just before they enter the Promised Land. In these three chapters, he addressed the subtle danger of spiritual drift, urging God's people to identify "hidden roots" of pride and modern idolatry that often flourish during seasons of prosperity. Through the lens of Moses' final song and the transition of leadership to Joshua, this devotion highlights a sovereign God who is both "Great and Good"—one who remains a constant anchor through life's transitions and is uniquely moved by our deepest weaknesses.
