The people of Israel are going to live a long time stripped of security and protection, without religion and comfort, godless and prayerless. But in time they’ll come back, these Israelites, come back looking for their GOD and their David-King. They’ll come back chastened to reverence before GOD and his good gifts, ready for the End of the story of his love.

afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.

After this, the people of Israel will return to the LORD their God and follow him and the king from David’s family. In the last days they will turn in fear to the LORD, and he will bless them.

But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the LORD their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the LORD and of his goodness.

But afterward, the Israelites will return and again long for YAHWEH their covenant God and for a David-like king. They will turn trembling in awe to YAHWEH and rediscover his goodness and gifts in the future.
