5Indeed, Moses served God faithfully in all he gave him to do. # 3:5 Or “in all God’s house.” His work prophetically illustrates # 3:5 Or “to testify.” The Aramaic can be translated “he believed all the evidence in the house” (or “tabernacle”). That is, Moses saw and believed that the tabernacle and all its furnishings were an illustration of something greater that God would unveil later on. things that would later be spoken and fulfilled. # 3:5 Or “to give testimony to things that would be spoken.” 6But Christ is more than a Servant, he was faithful as the Son in charge of God’s house. And now we are part of his house if we continue courageously to hold firmly to our bold confidence and our victorious hope. # 3:6 As translated from the Aramaic. The Greek is “the pride [rejoicing] of our hope.”

19My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, # 1:19 Although the Greek does not supply an object we are to listen to, it is obvious in the context that we should listen to one another, to God’s voice, and to his Word. May God give us listening hearts. but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry, 20for human anger is never a legitimate tool to promote God’s righteous purpose. # 1:20 Or “God’s righteousness will never attach itself to human anger.” 21So this is why we abandon everything morally impure # 1:21 The Aramaic word used here can mean “demonic activities.” and all forms of wicked conduct. # 1:21 Or “excesses of evil.” Instead, with a sensitive spirit # 1:21 Due to the Greek sentence construction, this clause may refer to what preceded it, “abandon . . . all forms of wicked conduct with a gentle [meek] heart.” we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us. # 1:21 Or “save our souls.” The Greek uses the effective aorist active infinitive σωσαι (sōsai) from σωζω (sōzō) and could refer to the ultimate salvation of our souls (personality, emotions, thoughts) and/or our eternal salvation.

10The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and in the demonic realm. # 2:10 Or “heaven, earth, and under the earth.” 11And every tongue will proclaim in every language: “Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,” # 2:11 As translated from the Aramaic. The Greek text uses the word kurios, which is not the highest name for God. Yahweh (Hebrew) or Jehovah (Latin) is the highest name. Kurios is a title also used for false gods, land owners, merchants, and nobles. The Greek language has no equal to the sacred name (the tetragrammaton—YHWH), Yahweh. Only Hebrew and Aramaic have that equivalent. This verse makes it clear that the name given to Jesus at his exaltation was “Lord Jehovah” or “Lord Yahweh.” The Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua (lit. “God is a Saving-Cry”), which bears and reveals the name Yahweh. Jesus carries the name and reputation of his Father, Yahweh, within him. See John 17:11. bringing glory and honor to God, his Father! # 2:11 Note the seven steps of exaltation that God gave Jesus after the cross: (1) God exalted him and multiplied his greatness. (2) He possesses the greatest name of all. (3) His sovereign authority will cause every knee to bow. (4) God decreed that everyone in heaven will bow in worship of the God-Man. (5) God decreed that every demonic being will bow to the God-Man. (6) God decreed that every tongue will proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh! (7) God received the glory and honor of sharing his throne with the God-Man.

19So again I ask, didn’t Israel already understand that God’s message was for others as well as for themselves? # 10:19 Paul is confirming that God’s plan from the beginning was to give the message of salvation to all the nations. Yes, they certainly did understand, for Moses was the first # 10:19 Or “First Moses . . . then Isaiah (v. 20) confirms it.” to state it:
“I will make you jealous of a people who are ‘nobodies.’
And I will use people with no understanding
to provoke you to anger.” # 10:19 See Deut. 32:21. Those who are “nobodies” and the “people with no understanding” both refer to the gentile believers among the nations that have by faith entered into new life in Jesus.

18But if you can believe God, then you can believe that what we tell you is never both yes and no. 19The Son of God, Jesus Christ, the one that Silas, Timothy, and I told you about was not yes and no. In Christ it has always been yes. 20The yes to all of God’s promises is in Christ. And that is why we say “Amen” through Christ to the glory of God. 21And God is the one who makes you and us strong in Christ. God is also the one who chose us for his work.#1:21 chose us for his work Literally, “anointed us.” In Greek this word is related to the title “Christ,” which means “anointed one.” See “anoint” and “Christ” in the Word List. 22He put his mark on us to show that we are his.
