Zechariah 6:13

Through the centuries, the mere thought of Jerusalem has stirred the deepest feelings in both Jews and Christians. Jerusalem - Jerusalem, the city of the living God! Jesus wept over Jerusalem wherein the temple of the Lord stood. The prophet Isaiah spoke of this city and place in Isaiah 2:2-3. In the history and prophecies of Israel, there are references to four temples we will study in this plan.

Like Haggai, Zechariah prophesies during the post-exilic period as Israel began resettling in the Promised Land. Zechariah encourages Israel to remain faithful and prophesies of a coming righteous King who will bring salvation to His people (Zechariah 9:10). This book reminds us that we too must be to what God has called us to, always hopefully anticipating when God Himself “will be king over all the earth” (Zechariah 14:9).

Hebrews challenges Jesus' followers to remain faithful to Him as the One who is the ultimate revelation of God's love and mercy. This book was written to a persecuted church to remind them, and us, that our faith is anchored in antiquity, rooted in Christ, and secured for all eternity.
