Proverbs 8:35

As believers, we are called to a lifetime of walking and talking with Him. As I explored the Gospel of John, God began to cultivate conversation and prayer from His heart to mine. My hope is that as you read through this devotional, you too will linger in His presence and allow His Word to become a divine conversation-starter.

Jesus quoted the Psalms more than any other book in the Old Testament. It has been the church's hymn book for centuries. Dive deeper into the riches of the Psalms and discover how they help us live more fully and walk with God more honestly as we wrestle with anger and sadness, enemies and justice, life and death.

Discipleship works against fear. As we obey God’s commands, we entrust ourselves to him. Like the students attending the schools founded by D. L. Moody in Northfield, MA, God’s people “are encouraged to test the meaning and value of the Bible’s teachings experimentally, by acting upon them, and living them out.” As we “test experimentally” the word of God, we will find that we will have fewer and fewer reasons to be afraid. When we take a look around at the chaos that life can leave in its wake, things can seem pretty bleak. It is at these times that God's Word is needed more than any other--to bring purpose and clarity to a world that has lost its way.
