DAY 9

The faithful provision of the Lord is why we call Him Jehovah-Jireh, “The Lord Will Provide.” It is true that God blesses every person on the earth with good things, whether that be the gift of a new day, financial stability, or daily food. However, there is a unique awareness and measure of God’s provision on the other side of faith.

Abraham was tested by God in Genesis 22:2, when the Lord told him, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Having faith that God could resurrect Isaac, Abraham did as God said. When the father and son arrived at the top of the mountain, the angel of the Lord stopped Abraham, and God provided a ram for a sacrifice instead. It was on the other side of Abraham’s obedience and faith that God made a way.

Jesus teaches this principle of provision following faith in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Rather than focusing on our needs, we would do well to focus on where it is God wants to lead us. God is faithful to provide as we walk in step with Him.
