Day 4 - Overboard

I’m down on my knees

Facing this fight

Your peace and my fear 

Crash and collide

Here’s my heart

I’m letting go

Of everything I’ve ever known

Take me deeper than before

Your love’s pulling me overboard

“Overboard” is a song about surrender. It’s so easy to hold on to things in this life and sacrifice what God has for us. By nature, we want to be in control and we want to be safe in what we’re used to, but this way of living robs us of the amazing and fulfilling life God has for us.

Just like the story of Jesus walking on water in Matthew 14, Peter was moved to step off the boat and into the raging sea to walk with Him. He would have never done this on his own, but he knew that if Jesus called him to walk on water then there was no reason to fear. He was going to walk on water. Even though he only walked a few steps before Jesus had to save him, it is one of the greatest acts of faith in the Bible.

It’s the love of God which draws us into this relationship, that moves our heart to surrender, and calls us step out in faith to follow Him. We can leave behind fear and fully trust God with our lives.

Dear Lord,

I want to surrender everything to you. Highlight the areas of my heart that I still have to give to you. I don’t want to live in fear, I want to live in faith. I trust your love for me and I will follow wherever you lead.
