God Is a Promise Keeper
Genesis 9:13
I am putting My rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of the agreement between Me and the earth.
Noah walked faithfully with God, but the earth was full of violence and wicked people. One day, God told Noah to build an ark. God was going to destroy the earth and all the wicked people. He would bring floodwaters on earth, but He would keep Noah and his family safe inside the ark. God told Noah to bring two of all living creatures into the ark, male and female, to keep them alive.
Noah was in the ark for about 370 days. After the surface of the ground became dry, God told Noah to come out of the ark. Noah built an altar to give an offering to God, to praise and thank Him for His awesome power. God then made a covenant* with Noah, his descendants, and all living creatures. God promised that He would never again bring a flood to kill all living creatures and destroy the whole earth.
Then God gave a sign of this covenant: a rainbow. He put a rainbow in the sky and said, whenever the rainbow appears He will remember His covenant. So each time you see a rainbow, remember God's promise for Noah, for every living creature with Noah, and also for us! Then, say a little prayer and thank God that He loves you and that He keeps His promises.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for Your promises. I thank and praise You, because You are faithful and You always keep your promises. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
*A covenant is an agreement with a promise.
