Trust and Obey God
Deuteronomy 5:33
Live the way the Lord your God has commanded you.
There is a sad story in the Bible about a man named Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Lot had a wife and two daughters. After separating from Abraham, he chose to live in a city named Sodom. This was not a good choice, because Sodom was a very wicked city. Year after year, the people who lived in that city were becoming more and more wicked and it upset God. So, God decided to destroy the city of Sodom.
One night, two angels who appeared like men, came to Lot’s house. They warned Lot to get out of the city, because it was going to be completely destroyed. The angels also warned them not to look back. Lot and his daughters obeyed and ran away from Sodom and they didn’t look back.
Unfortunately, Lot’s wife disobeyed. After they had gone some distance away from Sodom, she stopped and looked back. After looking back, Lot’s wife became a pillar of salt.
We can learn a good lesson from this. It teaches us that God wants us to trust and obey Him, no matter how hard it is.
Prayer
Dear God, I want to trust and obey you with all of my heart. Amen.
