Let's Prepare for Christmas!

DAY 1 OF 7

Gold, frankincense, and myrrh šŸŽ

Three wise men brought treasures to Jesus after His birth. Although they are traditionally added to the manger scene, we know the Bible clearly describes them entering a house. Oops, I guess facts trump traditions every day. ā€œOn coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.ā€ (Matthew 2:11, NIV)

Regardless of when they brought their gifts, we canā€™t help but love the symbolism and the depth of truth found in this story. These were wise men who had a revelation that a coming Messiah was about to be born. They followed a star, risked their lives, and worshiped a baby. The story sounds so preposterous, but ancient tradition even names the three: Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar.

Have you ever sought Jesus? Have you ever brought Him treasures that were meaningful to you? Someone once said, ā€œwise men still seek Him.ā€ I believe wise men still seek Him and give Him gifts.

Have you ever given God your gifts and talents?

Did you know that God wants your all? These wise men came ready to worship God with their gifts. I believe they brought gifts fit for a king.

What will you give to Jesus this year? Can you make a conscious choice to provide him with all of you? The lyrics of ā€œHave It Allā€ by Bethel Music are now ringing in my ears. ā€œYou can have it all, Lord. Every part of my world.ā€ This song has become my prayer. Will it become yours? It all starts with a little prayer to Jesus.

Because thatā€™s how you become a miracle.
