Knowing God Has a Plan: 5-Day Devotional by Anne WilsonSample
God Will Restore All Good Things
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Revelation 21:5
Why does the Lord take some people to Heaven on what seems like a premature journey?
While I can’t answer this and all the deep questions of my heart, I can be assured that the Lord is good and that Jacob’s life is serving the Lord’s purpose even now. Of course, I want him here on Earth with me. I wanted more years with him. I wanted to see him fall in love and build a family and watch him grow older. I won’t get to see this future that I had imagined, but in His gracious mercy, the Lord has allowed me glimpses of how impactful Jacob’s life was and continues to be.
In All Things New, John Eldredge offers this proposition: He suggests picturing a big beautiful treasure chest made to hold your most priceless treasures and imagine it holds all the things you have lost and anything or anyone you will ever lose. He says to believe that one day the Lord will restore all those things. As you can probably guess - my brother Jacob is in my treasure chest.
I know our Father is in the restoration business, and He will restore the good things we have lost. It will happen because God is a good Father who promises to make all things new. He will restore the years the locusts have eaten. He will give us back the wasted years…the stolen years. He will make our cups run over with the blessing of happy reunions and new experiences that will last for eternity.
I hope you are looking forward to the day you lock eyes with those you love in Heaven because that day is coming. Think about the moment all your difficult relationships are resolved and restored. That day is coming. Relish fully forgiving yourself and others. That day is coming. Imagine your worst mistakes and all traces of guilt and shame being lifted off your heart. That day is coming. Picture the day you get to look Jesus in the face. That day is coming.
Questions:
- What is in your treasure chest?
- Would you like to thank Jesus in advance for all the miraculous ways He will redeem all your losses? Do it now :)

About this Plan
I pray the "Knowing God Has A Plan: 5-Day Devotional" reminds you the Lord makes us a promise to look after us. He is a promise keeper who restores the good when it feels lost. I have seen firsthand how much of a blessing it is to have God hold you and weep with you. I pray you trust that He has a plan that exceeds your expectations.
