Lent Youth Guide | Jesus' Real Talk During His Hardest & Darkest Moments

DAY 27 OF 39

Think:

Jesus wasn’t hating on sleep. He was calling for something deeper. It’s not just about staying awake physically; it’s about staying spiritually aware. He wanted His disciples to realize what was going on around them—things that seemed tough and confusing, but that had a bigger purpose. When we sleep, we disconnect from reality, which is why sleep is often linked to death. But waking up isn’t just about the body—it’s about awakening our souls. It’s easy to get stuck on autopilot mode, sleepwalking through life without noticing what God is doing around us. So, Jesus is telling us, “Wake up! Be aware! Stay with me, because I see the bigger picture.”

Live:

How can you stay more aware of God in your life today? Think about the moments when it’s easy to get distracted or check out mentally—how can you choose to stay spiritually awake in those moments? Ask yourself, where is God working around you right now, even if things don’t seem perfect? Try to practice staying alert, like tuning into God’s presence throughout your day. Ask for the grace to be more present, both to Him and to the life happening around you.

Pray:
Jesus, I ask for the grace to be deeply aware of Your presence in my life. Help me stay awake and alert to what You’re doing, even when life gets tough or confusing. Amen.
