Pour It All Out in Worship
Mary’s act of worship was extravagant. She didn’t hold back her most valuable possession—she poured out a year’s wages worth of perfume at the feet of Jesus. It was messy, emotional, and deeply personal. Some in the room criticized her, but Jesus honored it. This moment teaches us that worship is not measured by how polished or perfect it looks, but by the cost of the surrender behind it. Have we reduced our worship to a routine? Or are we willing to break open the jar and give Jesus everything? Worship isn’t just music; it’s any act of love and devotion offered in response to who Jesus is. Mary’s offering was motivated by love, not obligation. And the fragrance filled the whole house. When we truly pour it all out in worship, it blesses others, testifies of His worth, and brings heaven to earth. What is your jar of perfume today? Your time? Your pride? Your finances? Your gifts? Let nothing be too precious to lay at His feet.
Applications:
- Identify something you’ve been holding back from God and commit to surrender it fully to Him today.
- Take time this week to worship intentionally—through music, prayer, or a generous act—without worrying what others think.
