DAY 6 OF 15

In our current time and place, it is easy to take for granted the access we have to the Bible (or any printed piece for that matter!). The ease with which we can get any book or find any information online today wasn’t always the norm. When we go back and think about the context in which some of the earliest books of the Bible were written, we begin to read them with a different lens in mind. Take this passage from Deuteronomy for example. It follows Moses’ instruction to the Hebrew people where he told them the laws and commandments God wanted them to follow. So, when Moses told the people to continue to impress on their kids the laws he told them, it was because there wasn’t a Bible to hand to them yet to do just that. The survival of the law of God’s commands was dependent on the people talking about them, teaching them, and living them out in their daily lives. While we may have more access to the Bible in written form now, what if we treated the Word with the same care and urgency as the early Hebrew people? What if we approached it like it was dependent on our living it that made it last? What if we understood its value in our lives and lived in a way that displayed that value to others?

What would it look like to live like we were impressing on our lives all God’s Word called us to? How would our lives look different if we did?

About this Plan

Bestseller

Did you know the Bible is the best-selling book of all time? Why is the Bible so popular? Why do people keep picking it up? There’s so much more to be found in the pages of Scripture when we experience it the way it was intended. It’s more than just an ancient book written by ancient people. It’s a book designed to connect us to the God who gave it to us in the first place. And that is ultimately what makes it a bestseller!
