Legacy: Living Stones, Lasting Impact

DAY 8 OF 8

DAY 8: Don’t Miss the Mission Moment

The religious leaders in Jesus’ story of the Good Samaritan missed the mission. They were too busy doing things FOR God to notice the person in need FROM God. The wounded man lying on the road was their moment, but they stepped over him.

That can be us, if we’re not careful.

Legacy is not just about church buildings or big offerings. Those things matter only if they serve as platforms for people to encounter God’s reconciling love. God’s mission isn’t always in the pulpit or on the stage—it’s often lying wounded on the roadside, waiting for mercy.

We don’t give for applause. We give to build spaces in our lives, in our budgets, and in our calendars, where God can move through us. The building matters because the people matter. Legacy matters because eternity matters.

So here’s the question: Are we walking past our moment?

Don’t just serve the idea of God. Serve the heart of God by loving the one in front of you. Be generous. Be interruptible. Be available.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Is there someone right now you’ve been tempted to “walk past”?
  2. What does it look like for you to “go and do the same” this week?
  3. How can you create space in your life to respond to God’s mission?

Thank you for walking with us through these reflections on legacy and mission. Our prayer is that you continue to seek His face, dwell in His presence, and live boldly as a builder of His Kingdom in every season.

We’d love to stay connected with you. To learn more about HopeUC, upcoming events, and how you can be part of what God is doing through our church, visit hopeuc.com/au.

Let’s keep building—together, on the Cornerstone.
