Day 3: The Power to Overcome and Focus

Read: 1 John 4:4; Romans 4:20–21

Scripture: "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than the one that is in the world." — 1 John 4:4 (NIV)

Devotion: We conclude this plan with the Power of Focus. We have seen that observing the symptoms of problems or the voice of fear is the same as observing lying vanities. When COVID-19 first broke out, many people began to feel the symptoms because they had observed and believed the lie in their minds.

We must break that pattern!

I want you to refuse to observe any lying vanity. Align your thoughts only with what the Word of God says. Refuse to allow what you see or what you feel to affect how you view God. Never let anything contrary to God's Word rule your life.

Give your thoughts, attention, and focus only to the Word. You are greater than any trouble in the world because you have already overcome it. The victory is not coming; it has already been won in Christ Jesus.

Look to the example of Abraham. The Bible says that despite all the circumstances around him—the fact that his body and Sarah's womb were too old—he refused to stagger at the promise of God. (Romans 4:20-21). Abraham was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able to perform.

Put your focus on Jesus. Don't observe any lying vanity. It's an empty thing. It's a lie. Your success is assured because your focus is on the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I cast out any spirit of fear from my life. I put my focus on Jesus and Your unfailing Word. I am fully persuaded that You are true to fulfill everything You have promised me. I will not stagger. I will go on and succeed. Thank You for the victory! In Jesus' name, Amen.
