Steps to the Treasure

This week, we began learning how to make the treasure of our hearts to delight in doing God’s will. Just like when we made treasure maps as children, our hearts now map out the way to do God’s will as the Holy Spirit prompts us. To reach the treasure, there are steps we must take, including turns to navigate and obstacles to avoid.

The first step, as we learned on Days 24 & 25, is renewing your mind. This involves:

• Reading the Bible
• Praying for God to renew our minds and change our desires
• Listening for God’s voice and obeying what He says

The next step, as we saw yesterday, is following the prompting of the Holy Spirit and delighting to do God’s will.

Carrying out God’s will may take time and courage. It may bring adversity, such as persecution from family or friends. It may not always feel good when you do what God says. This means you will have to deny your fleshly desires to fulfill God’s desires. This is not bad; it is part of following God. We are not led by our feelings, but by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit.

Follow the map, take the steps, and you will reach the treasure of doing God’s will.
