You Can Know God’s Will

God Gives You Insight

Before you became a Christian, you were an outsider. Now that you have chosen to follow God, who chose you, you have become an insider. You have an insight that others don’t have.

Principle 2: You Can Know God’s Will

We have already seen that God’s will is found in His Word. Every time you read the Bible, you are learning God’s will.

But what about the things we don’t see directly in the Bible—things like where to live, who to marry, or what occupation to choose? Are we supposed to decide for ourselves? No. You don’t have to go at it alone. The Holy Spirit guides you and helps you hear God’s voice in your life.

Hopefully, you have already experienced God speaking to you—through prayer, reading the Bible, or in church. You might be thinking, “I haven’t heard any audible voice.” Most of the time, God doesn’t speak audibly. Instead, He speaks in a still, small voice—a gentle whisper in your heart. Just like your conscience gives you guidance, God will speak in a way that:

• Always lines up with the Bible
• Brings peace to your heart

Ask God to speak and be diligent to act on what He says.

“Holy Spirit, I am listening for Your voice. Help me to develop a tender heart to be sensitive to hear You. Amen.”
