I'm New! What Do I Do?

DAY 6 OF 35

God’s Love Doesn’t Change

Knowing You Are Loved

You’re getting close to completing your first week since making the decision to follow Jesus. Hopefully, it has been a great week filled with the joy that comes from salvation. This week may have also presented some challenges.

You may have encountered resistance from the devil in the form of doubts about whether your salvation is real. It may have come from people or external pressures as well. Sometimes it comes from the problems you had before you were saved that continue to linger. Whether joyful or painful, it is important to know and do a few key things.

First, you need to know that you are loved. God loves you, and so do we! Even if you messed up this week, know that God’s love hasn’t changed. That doesn’t mean God approves of your behavior. So, what do we do when we sin and mess up now that we are born again?

Repent

To repent means that you stop the bad behavior, change your heart and mind to turn from that behavior toward God, and confess your sin. When you confess your sin in prayer, you also ask for forgiveness for what you have done.

(If you have sinned, confess it in prayer and ask for forgiveness now. Make this a daily prayer point as things happen.)

There is a beautiful scripture in 1 John 1:9 that says if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from every wrong way. His love makes all of this possible. His love also means that you are not alone. God is with you because He loves you. You can’t scare Him away just because you messed up. Bring it to Him and let Him cleanse you!

Your church family is also with you because we love you. Make it a priority to come back to church and meet with your faith-filled friend. Write down and bring any questions you have so you can discuss them during your meeting. Get ready to be reminded that you are family and you are loved — stay consistent.

Prayer

“God, I thank You for the joy of my salvation. Thank You for loving me, for Your forgiveness, and for bringing me into Your family. Amen.”
