Hillsong Worship, No Other Name - The Overflow DevoSample
Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace): Annie Garratt
The first time I heard the song Broken Vessels I was in my car heading from the airport to church. I was in a rush and needed to quickly learn this new song for worship that evening. As the song began to play, everything in me slowed down. I found myself driving down the freeway with tears streaming down my face as the weight of the lyrics sunk in. I was unexpectedly overcome with emotion as I thought about Jesus on the cross and the idea that in those moments He was thinking of ME. I was particularly struck by these words:
Oh I can see You now
I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying Yourself down
Raising up the broken to life
It was as if singing those lyrics actually helped me to see Him more. Something about this song just made it hit home again and caused me to reflect on His personal love for me. Isaiah 53:4-6 speaks about Jesus taking our sin upon Him. “Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
As I’ve read this passage, I have often thought of the pain in His eyes or the anguish but I was reminded of the love in His eyes as He laid down His life for me. That beautiful costly act of love that saved a sinner like me, like you, for which I am forever grateful. I am also grateful for songs like this that point us once again to the cross.

About this Plan
To support 2014’s highly anticipated annual Hillsong Worship album release, “No Other Name”, a 7-Day Reading Plan for The Overflow Devo on YouVersion has been developed.
