Honesty and Integrity – The Best Policy
Honesty is telling the truth and giving a complete account of all facts and figures.
Integrity is telling the truth all the time. It’s the uprightness of character, the state of being complete and undivided.
I once sent a family member to a particular company to buy a product. I had gotten a good deal there and was impressed by their service. After my family member interacted with the company, they walked away feeling good about the purchase because they felt the sales staff were honest. You can be sure their business will stand the test of time.
Why? Because trust is such a valuable commodity. There is a reason “Thou shalt not lie” is one of the ten commandments. God knew that to live in harmony with one another, to be productive, and to survive; we would need to be able to trust each other.
Think about it:
When was a time you were lied to or deceived? How did you feel? When was a time you lied or deceived someone else? What happened to that relationship? Why did you feel the need to lie? How might you have handled the situation differently?
Pray about it:
Dear God, convict my heart of any dishonesty I have. Please help me be an example of honesty and integrity to the people in my life, and help me repair any damage I’ve done in the past. Please forgive me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Do something about it:
Be a proponent of integrity in your life in one way. If you have an issue with lying, stealing, or manipulating situations, tell someone and start healing. If you know someone or something about a problem, pray for the people involved to have clarity and reconciliation.
